But do we need to hold so tightly to our drama of dissatisfaction?

Why bring home to our hearts the subtle disappointments,
the doubts that plague us?

Why put our precious energy at the disposal of the ‘I’,
protecting its sophisticated structure of lies?

Do we need to invest our lives
in shapes and forms that have no lasting meaning,
building more and more elaborate sandcastles by the sea?

Must we continue to be so gullible?

Even if thinking in this new way turns out to be another sort of game,
isn’t the only honest view a frank admission
that we would rather be free from frustration and pain?
