Mind proceeds by making distinctions and dividing things up.
Operating with ’cause and effect’ forms of cognition, it felt limits of viewing and assigns identities, each marked as exceptional.
The meanings and distinctions mind depends on are like products that mind produces, sells to itself, and then consumes.
Since consuming is itself an act of producing, the process immediately starts up again.
The momentum of buying, selling, and producing is unstoppable. One transaction triggers the next, and transactions build on each other, generating growing complexity.
These patterns and mechanisms seriously undermine our fond conviction that the mind is free.
