The intentions and understanding we manifest as individuals are crucial in shaping the state of the world we live in. The self-centered hopes and fears of the individual are the building blocks of the conflicts between nations; our inner disharmonies are reflected in imbalances between humanity and nature.
Imagine a world where minds were open and free of suffering, where peace was possible and harmony inherent. Such a world would be a paradise indeed, and enlightened realm where wisdom and compassion ruled.
Any progress in this direction is surely worth the effort, for the benefit of ourselves as well as others. It is important to be clear at the outset that whatever progress we make in this direction will come entirely through deepening our understanding of mind.
The beautiful flower of human transformation, a vision of possibilities, grows from the muddy water of each moment of ordinary experience.
The Dharma shows how this can happen.
